Creating sustainable changes in Kerala and beyond through education, inclusion and social innovation — one child, one family, one rural community at a time.
SMILE (Society for Meaningful Intervention, Learning and Empowerment) is a Kerala-based non-profit organisation registered under the Kerala Societies Registration Act, 2025, on 7 July 2026. The organisation also holds registrations under Sections 12A and 80G of the Income-tax Act, 1961, supporting its commitment to structured and accountable social development initiatives.
Led by a team of professional social workers with over a decade of experience in social development, training, community mobilisation, capacity building and programme implementation, SMILE works at the intersection of education, inclusion and community development.
We partner with children, youth, families, schools, local self-government institutions, panchayats and communities to create meaningful opportunities for learning, personal growth and empowerment.
At SMILE, we believe that sustainable social change begins by understanding people, recognising their strengths and working together to address the challenges they face. Explore our programmesEvery rupee donated to the ME programme goes toward school fees, learning materials, uniforms, tuition support and mentorship for children from vulnerable households. Your contribution helps a child stay enrolled, catch up on foundational learning and build a real pathway to finishing their education instead of dropping out.
We share regular updates by email and through our newsletter, including progress reports, photos and milestone stories from the ME programme. For sustained or sponsorship-level support, we also send individual progress notes so you can see exactly how your contribution is helping a child's education journey.
Yes. SMILE is a registered non-profit, and donations made toward the ME programme are eligible for tax exemption under applicable Indian tax laws. You'll receive an official donation receipt by email that you can use while filing your returns.
We publish audited annual financial statements and programme reports, and every contribution is routed through a disbursement process reviewed by our governing board. Field teams track and report outcomes for each programme, so funds stay traceable all the way from donation to on-ground impact.
There's no fixed minimum or maximum — you're welcome to give any amount you're comfortable with, whether as a one-time gift or a recurring monthly contribution. Every amount, big or small, goes directly toward keeping a child in school.
